Steve Green writes: Approximately 150 fans, friends and health service colleagues turned out to bid farewell to my wife Ann at on 15 August 2008. As Claire Brialey subequently noted in Banana Wings, this was actually more than twice the number of seats available. Several people who had previously attended ceremonies at that same venue came up to me afterwards and said they'd never seen so huge a turnout. Bill has generously found room here on eFanzines for the service sheet I produced. Whilst not a fanzine as such, it does feature one of Ann's more striking illustrations (in the style of Aubrey Beardsley, whose surname I managed to mis-type in the credits) and the only poem we ever collaborated upon. By the end of August, more than UK£1300 had been raised for Diabetes UK in Ann's name, and that is likely to pass the UK£1500 mark in October, as a result of the 2008 Solihull Beer Festival nominating her fund as its chosen charity. One of my future projects will be an anthology of Ann's writing, artwork and recipes (after all, Chris Garcia did describe the dinner Ann laid on during his TAFF visit as "easily the best meal I've had in England and probably among the three or four best homemade meals I've ever eaten").
